Cashing Kash Money: FBI Pays Seattle PD $333,395 For Task Force Overtime
Since January 2024, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has paid the Seattle Police Department (SPD) $333,395 to assist in FBI task force operations.
The money is paid out to SPD as a reimbursement for SPD officers who are detailed to the Safe Streets Task Force (SSTF), Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) and other unknown joint investigations.
Earlier this week, HardPressed revealed FBI payments made to SPD during the 2020 protests to support JTTF overtime.
Today, HardPressed is revealing a full scope of payments made since January 1 2024, totaling $333,395. That number originates from an SPD financial ledger obtained by HardPressed through a public records request. The ledger details monthly payments made to SPD.
In August 2025, FBI overtime payments surged to $42,570 in one month alone. That money was paid out to 22 separate SPD officers. That same month, the U.S. Attorney in Seattle announced the execution of 13 search warrants and multiple charges in an alleged fentanyl trafficking conspiracy.

As of January 2026, Wesley Friesen was the only SPD officer identified as receiving JTTF overtime payments.
The FBI and SPD did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
